Established in 1988, the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC or Association) is based in Victoria, BC and represents approximately 4,500 Registered Clinical Counsellors across British Columbia, of whom some 60% are in private practice. Governed by a 10-member board of directors (Board), the Association has an annual budget of approximately $2.2M and employs 13 staff, which includes the leadership team comprised of the Registrar and Director of Member Services.

    BACKGROUND INFORMATION

BCACC offers the Registered Clinical Counsellor designation for those who have the appropriate education and are committed to following a code of conduct and standards of practice. The profession is self regulated and the Association has, in the absence of government regulation, assumed the power to investigate complaints against its members. In 2018, the BC government undertook a review of the regulatory framework for health professions in the province, which resulted in a number of recommendations that the government is moving forward with. This may include establishing a College to regulate clinical counsellors and other health professions that will be responsible for standards and guidance, regulation and licensing, and complaints investigations. If this College is established, BCACC will become a member services based Association focused on continuing education and advocacy and other services.

    Executive Director

Due to the retirement of the incumbent Executive Director (ED), the Association is undertaking a search to recruit a new ED to oversee day-to-day operations and, when a College is formed, to plan and lead the transition of regulatory responsibilities to the College. The ED will also be responsible for evolving current member services to ensure the Association is a highly relevant member services based organization.

    Requirements

The Association is seeking a senior non-profit leader who is technologically savvy with solid business and financial acumen, and ideally has experience with a professional association or regulatory college. Clinical experience or knowledge of counselling would also be beneficial. Innovative and creative, you excel at developing a vision, inspiring others, and have proven skills in leading and managing significant change. If you aspire to lead and position the Association as a leader in professional practice excellence, please submit your resume by following the directions below.
